Is there any kind of consensus about iOS 5 problems related specifically to the 3GS? I.e. poor responsiveness (à la iOS 4 on the iPhone 3G), battery life, etc? I searched the Apple discussion forms, and was unable to come to a conclusion

Could you define consensus or better list some specific tasks you need to work? The idea of not upgrading software when iOS4 made the iPhone 3 unacceptably slow to many people with very specific uses (spotlight search time, home button responsiveness, etc...) makes this worth asking, but without some specifics it's more an off topic opinion survey and not a Q with a good technical answer... – bmike Jan 1 '12 at 22:56
