From the Tuxera for Mac manual: 3.3 Checking and repairing NTFS file systemsThere is only limited support for checking and repairing NTFS file systems at this time. The best way to repair a damaged NTFS volume is using chkdsk in Windows. If you install NTFS-3G for Mac OS X, you will find that it includes a utility called ntfsfix, which can repair some fundamental inconsistencies of NTFS volumes. This utility is currently not integrated with the file system bundle, and thus can't be invoked through Disk Utility, because of reports that it has corrupted some users' NTFS drives. If you want to try it out despite these warnings, you will have to invoke it manually, from the Terminal. Type “man ntfsfix” for usage info. |

"best way to repair a damaged NTFS volume is using chkdsk in Windows" Not for a Boot Camp partition that can't boot to Windows. I fail to comprehend how anyone can recommend using a utility in Windows that cannot be asked to even start unless Windows can boot. That's the whole idea, the file system needs repair, so you have to have a utility that can be started in OS X. |
