Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Is there any way to detect images coming from WhatsApp? I'll explain my situation on iOS but it should be a similar case on Android or other devices.

Apparently, there is no way to save all images/videos coming from WhatsApp into a separate folder. That creates the issue of having all your family/work pictures mixed up with silly memes or weird images being sent through WhatsApp and even having them "temporarily backed up" to Photo Stream.

Now, I know you can disable images being autosaved to photo roll but as soon as you download one to view it you experience the same problem.

So, any way to filter WhatsApp images from any other image (exif, properties, etc...)?
